The Kwathu Upgrade platform is a flagship multi-platform project under the Kwathu Innovation & Creative Centre, which aims at building the capacity of young creatives in Malawi through interactive workshops, Management training programs, business development training, business incubation, content development, networking opportunities, and distribution as well as showcase events.
With funding from Music in Africa Foundation and partners (the German Federal Foreign Office, Siemens Stiftung, and Goeth Institut), through the Music in Africa Live project, Ntha Foundation through the Kwathu Creative & Innovation Centre launched the Music4Malawi Edition which trained 10 participants in the music and entertainment industry.
On the first day of the workshop, the topic under discussion was “Branding and Marketing” which focused on how artists can brand and market themselves, find their niche, and appeal to their audiences. Alex Kachepa facilitated the workshop and emphasized artists treating themselves, and their art, as a business product.
